X-ray technician jobs are one of those special careers in healthcare where people don’t need to work during odd hours of the night in order to earn a good income. Most x-ray technicians work in physician’s clinics, private owned diagnostic centers, public health clinics and hospitals, so the number of places where one can work is endless. In order to get the best salary possible, x-ray technicians need to focus on several key factors including education, experience, personal growth and trainings. There are a lot of schools that offer trainings for an x-ray technician; some hospitals even offer in-service training for entry level personnel. The training in these hospitals only takes a few weeks and chances are their programs are not accredited.  You can also find training in vocational schools and community colleges. Most schools only require their future students to have a high school diploma or equivalent in order to enroll.

Once enrolled, students will be taught all about the basics on radiology such as proper positioning, basic machine care, ethics, medical terminology and other veritable information that students will be able to use in the field.

Students can decide on whether they can stop there education after 1 year- which usually results in a certificate, or continue for 2-4 years. The higher your educational value, the better your chances for employment and salary. Two years in college is equivalent to an associate’s degree while 4 results in a bachelor’s degree. Many opt to earn the bachelor’s degree as holders usually have better future ahead of them. After completing an educational program, it is essential for x-ray technicians to become certified in order to qualify for employment.
